Country queen DOLLY PARTON has turned down the chance to join the judges on AMERICAN IDOL - because she simply can't be mean to wannabes. The Jolene singer will take part in a tribute to her music in the next season of the talent show, but she'll only help singers master her hits backstage. She says, "I won't be a judge. I couldn't do that. I can't tell people they aren't doing a good job even if they ask me. "To tell someone if they're good or bad, or if they suck isn'tme."

There could be a chance of this happening this comming season.AI 6 and AI 3 was the weakest season of them all,and American Idol has produced more country artists than R&B and pop all together.Country music has more longevity,and would be a smart move for American Idol.We will just have to wait and see.
I don't know if it's stupid not to put country singers on. IMO there has only really been two good country singers ever on the show. Bucky, Josh, and Carmen were average IMO. Kellie was good for the entire thing besides the last two weeks where she let it slip. I was hoping Bailey would of made it last year but, there is always this year.
Country singers from AI have had the most success of anyone on the show. All of the people you mentioned have landed record deals and released full length albums and are doing very well. In fact, Bucky is currently doing better than Kellie in chart position.

Yes, he did. He had better support from his label.

Bailey made it to Hollywood this year but dropped out because she got a record contract.
