I got fired from my 1st job and they didn't even tell me!
This is ridiculous! I'm pretty sure I posted in here before about how I have (had) a job at a nearby assisted living home. Anyways, I had an appointment with my new job counselor the other day, and she told me that she heard back from the assisted living home, who told her that they decided it wasn't working out for all of us, and decided to let me go. Well, guess who didn't know this decision until Thursday? Yes, me. They let me go but didn't even bother to tell me, not even way back in October when they called me to let me get my hopes all up over another position at the same place I was qualified for! Are they even allowed to do that? I have half a mind to yell at my former bosses, but that's not me, and that's not how I do things, so I won't say anything when I go turn in my shirt and badge.

OK! I start community assessment real soon where I can try out different jobs and see how I do at each of them! My top choices are child care, library work, clerical, and stocking and merchandising. So this should be fun and interesting!

This is like life repeating itself for me,I practically went through the same thing, and it ticks me off how people can be so cold and cruel to do such a thing,I believe a law suit is in order for what they did to you. You need to fight for your rights in this world.
The government isn't going to help you much Heidi,so my best advice is searching for a job on your own. Those asessments are a complete waste of time and tax dollars.I'm learning disabiled and was always a threat when looking for a job,and when I did find the right one I stuck to it,and it will be 7 years next month for me with the Big Lots company.
I have faith in you completely Heidi and something will come your way,but you have to work extremely hard to get it. You'll be in my constant prayers, and good luck.

Yes I am Heidi, except you wouldn't know it,I'm just like anyone else except that I have a difficult time comprehending things. It's more cognitive, and certain things take me a little longer to learn.
I'm sure you can understand that.

I do understand, I'm the same way! I have Aspergers, which is a mild form of Autisim, and it takes me longer to learn some things too.

My 8 yr.old cousin Darren is Autistic, although his is more sever than Aspergers. His speech isn't very clear and has a tough time with reading sentences, his moods fluxuate a lot as well, but he's smart as a whip, and can remember events that happen, such as if your traveling from one place to another,he can remember the roads and directions. He loves music and is quite intentive to it.
For me though,I've always struggled with comphrension, certain things i just don't understand, and it takes me a little longer to learn things, however,I make up for it with my creativity. It's what makes us special and unqiue Heidi,we compensate for what we lack in.Artistically, our brains produce more of the artisitic gene than academically. I struggled with school through out my entire education and most of my classes were in special ed,but I did attend a few regular classes with the exception of extra time on tests and quizzes.I had the privilage of getting out of taking the SAT's,but I insisted on taking them because I wanted to try,I barely passed any of them, but it was definately worth trying it.I've been through an aweful lot in my life,as you have as well. It's quite amazing how God and Kellie Pickler has brought us together.

Yeah I always struggled with school too. I was in Special Ed up until the 1st grade, then got out of it when I decided I wanted to go to school with my big sister who I idolized at the time (lol!) but still got some learning center help. Then came junior high, I struggled with that but got through it with no Special Ed. High school was different. My mom and I fought with my school many times to get me into Special Ed, and the finally, at the end of my sophomore year, I was tested and did qualify for some Special Ed. SO in my junior and senior years, I got a tutorial study hall where I got help with my homework, and I was allowed to take my tests in a tutorial study hall where I could concentrate better and get help.< | |
