Stolen!
Hey guys, need advice again, but this time on something way different. Last night 14 houses were robbed, including mine. We had a $600 CD stereo stolen overnight, and it pretty much ruined the holiday spirit for everyone here. My dad really loved this stereo, and right now I've barely enough $$ to stand on my feet at college next semester, Christmas was an awful time for this to happen! I considered eBay as an option to look for a stereo to replace the one my dad had, but the prices weren't anything better than store prices. Any ideas on what I should do to keep my family's spirits up during Christmas?
I really, really wish people wouldn't be so low as to rob homes at this time of year.

Am truly sorry that happened to you. Hopefully they'll catch those punks SOON.
But ya know what? Have a Merry Christmas. Don't let those fools steal your joy and happiness, too.
I know that's easy for me to say, since it did'nt happen to me.
But i think you understand.

That is just really awful. I had an apartment broken into a long time ago. I know what a horrible feeling such an incident can leave.
I ended up getting lucky. I got everything back that was stolen because the police traced the serial numbers on some items that the thieves tried to sell at a pawn shop. So, there still is hope.
With so many families in one area affected, maybe getting some neighbors together to organize a neighborhood watch, even an informal one, could help lift some spirits. Looking into some ways to help prevent further crimes like this may also help.
I wish I could be of more help. I hope that they catch those thieves quickly.

Under the circumstances, if that happened to me, a serious loving hug from my kid would mean more than you may know.

That's awful! But in a way I know how you feel! One of my mom's co workers and closest friends just had her car stolen a few weeks ago. They just found it dumped in Detroit, pretty much stripped of all its parts. And a lot of things inside the car got stolen too. And my mom's friend is 1 of the nicest people in the world!

Awww, just terrible! I am so sorry that it happened to you and I hope the police catch the person who did it. Wish you luck!
I had my car broken into once, but they didn't steal anything. I think it was a homeless guy who just wanted to get warm for the night since it was cold that night.

Hey Ashley. I am so sorry t ohear of your plight. Seems crime is well on the rise this month, as the scum of the earth, prays on good people. had one just not 2 nights ago, trying to steal my Christmas decor, and was greeted with a wonbderful Christmas present... a 12 guage pointing at him. this week alone in my area... 4 armed robberies, 203 thefts of stuff out of cars at the mall, and 5 residental thefts. All in 4 days!! My town is 24,000 weak. my best bet for the stereo... E-bay is a good idea, but also, this is a time where closeness in the family is the best music. Material items can be replaced, love for family, can never be. merry Christmas dear lady, hope for the best.

Wow!! Crime is high this month, and it's Christmas ;-; Ah well, you all are right that being together is what we need most. I hope the thieves try to pawn it because the pawn shops have been notified to watch for it. They probably won't though, because this CD stereo was a $600 satellite MP3/CD player with animation and a bunch of other features. WOW someone made off with a good car CD player.. and the bad thing is we left the faceplate on it, so anyone can use it if they steal it. (If we hadn't left the faceplate on, it wouldn't work for anyone!) Also we looked up more information on it after it was stolen and found out we could have set a security password in it so that it would only work for us, I wish we had known about that before!! It's really hard for everyone to get into Christmas now because my dad's bummed over it and my mom keeps blaming herself since she was the last one to use it and left the doors unlocked, which she has had a habit of doing for awhile.. at least she won't do it again. We're talking about getting another, but getting a car alarm first. So that when this happens again in the night, we'll hear an alarm. Another bad thing is we have to get the inside of the truck fixed (its only 1 year old, it's still new) because the thief cut lots of wires around in order to get the CD player out. I really, really hope he/she gets caught!!
