800,000 shipped

According to Wikipedia, 800,000 CDs have been shipped. Last week it said that 700,000 had been shipped. I do not know how reliable it is but is still interesting. 200,000 to Platinum.

Yeah... I didn't know that RIAA certified shipments by every 100k, but if that's so she's very close to Platinum. All it will take is one more large shipment and she'll hit that certification.

Why would they not do it by 100,000? That does not make any sense.

I don't trust that one bit. However, STG IS going to break 600k within the next two weeks

Taylor is selling about 1,000 per week and his total right now is somewhere near 692,000. STG will pass this (I am sure of it), especially with the release of another single

It does make sense. I'm just saying that I didn't think that the certifications were available by those incriments. I know they certify for Gold, Platinum, Double Platinum, etc... but didn't think they updated by 100k standards.

Werss, I did some research on this last year and found some interesting details on the "certification" process.

RIAA only "certifies" when requested by the label, which would only occur when the shipped units (which obviously the label knows exactly) reaches 500K or 1000k or a multiple of 1000K. An auditor actually comes to the label's headquarters and goes over invoices, shipping records and inventory.

The only way this information (the 800K shipped) is valid is if it came from the label. Labels are certainly not in the habit of releasing #units that they ship before the certification. Or at least, I have never heard of this information being released.

The closest we have is the assurances by Joe Galante that Kellie was "expected" to make platinum by the end of the year.

We can only hope.

Oh! Thanks Robert for clarifying. I didn't think that those numbers were made available although they surely aren't far fetched.

If the number is accurate, even remotely, then it means an expected increase in sales (probably from appearances promoting a new single maybe in the late Sept/Oct timeframe to take advantage of Christmas. Would be about right for the next single to break the top 20 around Thanksgiving. It means then they expect to ship a million units by Christmas, which validates the statement by Galante of Platinum by Christmas. Should be interesting to watch.

I really hope she goes platinum. Wow, just look at all the shows and concerts she's done. Kellie has really worked hard for this.
