This much is true: Ryan Seacrest sure does think a lot of Birmingham.
In town for Monday's "American Idol" auditions and to film live takes for his cable show "E! News," the "American Idol" host posed for pictures with fans, walked with contestants in promo spots and heaped a whole lotta praise on the home of Vulcan.
"I love it!" he said when asked for his opinion of the city. "We wouldn't have a show without Birmingham."
Seacrest called Birmingham "a magical place" because Taylor Hicks, Ruben Studdard and Bo Bice (plus Diana DeGarmo, who was born here) have come from the area. It's the first time in the show's six-year history that auditions have been held in Birmingham.
"This has been a very, very exciting destination for us," Seacrest said.
Still, a trek to the South..........
