Dolly Parton upset with country radio
Parton: 'Put me back on the radio'
Dolly Parton has hit out at the country music industry, accusing it of turning its back on her.
The star claims she can't get radio airplay, because the focus is on young and up-and-coming acts.
She tells AOL Music: "Get Dolly Parton back on the radio! Get me back on mainstream! Stop this attitude that older people ain't any good anymore!" We're as good as we ever were, if we ever were any good.
"But I can't complain, because I've had 30 years of success and have won every award that there is to be had. But still, it's as new to me as it was when I first started and just as important. So I wish they would treat some of the great artists with the respect that a lot of them deserve."
I have to agree with Dolly,as many in the industry have gone with a much younger vibe and audience.Give Dolly some credit. She's one of country's legends and an icon in my eyes.

Dolly in my eyes transformed country music for women. She's a true living legend and a wonderful soul. Her new album is wonderful, I would love to hear her on the radio.

Most definately Heather and Kasey.Dolly has been around, but not heard.I see her videos on GAC,but haven't heard her songs on radio forever in a day.We should request Dolly when we request Kellie.

I really wish Dolly was on more! Like Kellie! I"m actually starting to hear Kellie's TTNCAMM on radio more, maybe soon she'll rerelease or spring up or something!
You hear George Strait on the radio! Why not Dolly Parton?
Dolly is a legend, country radio is the most unfair thing i ever saw, they don't play women and now do that with the #1 country female singer of all time? really... i think the radios are only thinking about getting money from payola and nothing else.

At Tuesday Morning, we have satellite radio, that mostly plays older music from different genres (no younger than like maybe 2003 or 2004), and there are times when I do hear some Dolly Parton, along with other older singers, like Terri Clark. It's good to hear them then because Dolly's right, they just don't get the airplay they deserve on the radio anymore.
Dolly is played here and there. Just check out yes.com. But the bulk of the songs played is "Nine to Five". You don't see "Jesus + Gravity" being played anywhere at all.
They really do need to start playing more Dolly. Country listeners especially I think aren't that interested in whether or not their singer is younger or older. The DJs and record execs need to wake up.
Look at the reality shows where they have singers. It isn't always the most beautiful or the youngest that wins. It's the one people like the most.
