Four female country stars were on Forbes' first-ever list of the 20 top-earning female musicians, with
Faith Hill and the
Dixie Chicks cracking the top 10.
Faith is No. 8, with $19 million earned between June 2006 and June 2007. The Chicks are No. 9 with $18 million.
Martina McBride came in at No. 13 with $12 million, and
Carrie Underwood No. 15 with $7 million.
"This shows the earning power of women in country," said Creative Artists Agency's Rod Essig. "It shows how strong they are.
Why are they not being considered for entertainer of the year (at the CMAs)? There are a lot of guys who would like to have these numbers."
Madonna was the top-earning entertainer, with $72 million. She was followed by Barbra Streisand ($60 million), Celine Dion ($45 million), Shakira ($38 million) and Beyonce ($27 million.) Middle Tennessee resident Sheryl Crow came in No. 19 with $6 million.
