First of all let me start by saying hello to you all. I have never done this before so I hope that I am doing this right. This website came to me as a result of a message that I had posted to a message board on
www.kelliepickler.com. I had written about trying to get a meet and greet pass for one of Kellie's events so that my father and mother could have the chance to meet Kellie in person. You will have to excuse me when I say that they as well as all of the rest of the family have gone through hell and back again literally. You see my sister, their daughter, Jennifer, who wasn't quite 29 yet and had gone through some pretty rough times herself with drug and alcohol abuse, had caused her to give up custody of her two children temporarily. The youngest was first placed with my parent's by the social services department in Mountrail County. He was then torn away from us and placed in the custody of his father who was her then boyfriend, Jay Washek, by the Ward County Social Services. The oldest of the two still resides with my parents; in fact, they are currently in the process of adopting him. Jennifer had gone through all the steps and requirements to become clean and was well on her way to sobriety for the first time in a long time. She had it all it seemed; a good job, friends, and a home. She was so close to having her children back in her custody, but on the night of April 29th/the morning of April 30th the unthinkable occurred. That night, she awoke to her son's cries as he was in his father's strangle hold. He dropped him to the floor and took hold of a telephone cord and wound it tightly around her throat thus, murdering her. We have since gone to court for a trial on double A Homicide he first pled not guilty, but then at the last minute pled guilty. He received a 20 year sentence in the state prison with 5 years suspended. We are struggling with trying to file a wrongful death suit as well as trying to obtain full or at the very least temporary custody of Jaycob, who is her youngest. His mother refuses to allow us to see him without prior consent and she and only she sets the standards as to what goes on when we do get the chance to visit with him. He is scared and lonely. I/we feel that he should not have to choose who he wants to be with, but no one seems to listen to us nor our viewpoints. So you can all see just how frustrating this has all been for each of us. It has taken it's toll on everyone involved. We need all the help, encouragement, support and strength that we can muster up. I am writing this post in hopes that someone out there will see it, read it and reach out to us. My parents have heard somewhere that Kellie speaks out to grandparents raising grandchildren. They desperately would like the opportunity to meet face to face with Kellie, because they know that she was also raised by her grandmother. My dad loved her song "I Wonder," so much that he wrote to someone in Tennesee and they responded with a reworded version of that song in memory of Jennifer with sympathy for her children. So if someone can please help me in making this a reality for them it would greatly be appreciated and it will mean so much to them, I know it. Rachael.
