NASHVILLE, TN – When Atlanta’s KICKS 101.5 (WKHX-FM) announced the “Kellie Pickler High School Hook Up” on April 14th, with the opportunity for one area school to win a Kellie Pickler acoustic performance, little did they realize what they set in motion. The “Hook Up” was a text message contest that targeted all high schools in the Atlanta metro area, and more than TWO MILLION text messages later, Etowah High was announced the winner.
When Kellie learned the results of the contest she said, “Are you serious? Two million texts? That’s crazy...that’s like Idol crazy. I'm so excited to be doing this show, and I haven’t been out of high school very long myself, so it’s like playing for my peers. I hope they don’t make me take class while I'm there!”
The acoustic event was built for an auditorium setting, but with Etowah’s student body in excess of 2300, the show was moved to the football stadium and bumped up to full band. The show will take place on Monday, May 5th, at Etowah High School in Woodstock, GA.
Principal Ron Dunavant stated, “Etowah High School is excited to have Kellie Pickler coming to our school! The contest has been fun for not only the students, but the entire community. The words ‘text Pickler & Etowah to 68255’ became a battle cry! I told our students, if we are going to do this, let’s do it to win it! The promotion was powered by mSnap, a leading mobile ad network that enables broadcasters and advertisers to easily create and manage mobile campaigns.
