April 3, 2008 - With her song "Things That Never Cross A Man's Mind" now in country music's Top 15, Kellie Pickler has earned three hits off her debut album. And she believes a big part of her success is directly related to her launch as a competitor on "American Idol."

"TV does something," she told The Tennessean. "I know I can speak for Carrie [Underwood], too. That show really helped both of us, because people were watching us every single week. They were able to see us, rather than the only place they could see [us] is in the store on the shelf. It was almost like they got to know us."

And in Kellie's case, they got to know so much that many fans feel invested in her career and her private life. She disclosed some of the difficulties in her family, and she even made public statements about her relationship with hockey player Jordin Tootoo. As a result, she's found that many strangers feel the need to play Dr. Phil to her.

"Random people in a grocery store will come up and tell me what I should do," she said. "'Oh, you should have left him a long time ago.' It's weird ... They don't know anything but a paragraph they read in the paper."

As a result, she's learned that her fame also carries a bit of responsibility: "I have to keep my big mouth shut about anything personal."

I have to agree with Kellie,as I have a big mouth of my own from time to time and say things I shouldn't.That's the one down fall for us.We don't know how to stay quiet.In our line of work,it's best to keep our mouths shut.Dealing with the public can come with a heavy price.

I guess Kellie may feel she needs to keep her mouth shut sometime, but I think that the way she opens up is part of her charm. I for one wrote her a long letter about how she should handle her life because I care and I think a lot of other people really care about her too. She has handled her celebrity quite well I think cosidering her background. Carrie Underwood is a beautiful girl and I enjoy watching her perform but she is really lacking in personality and her interviews both on TV, radio and the press are completely uninteresting and boring. Just my oipinion.

She should keep sharing her life with us (within boundaries of course). It is what makes Kellie Kellie. Plus she has a fascinating life and an even more fascinating outlook on life.

As far a people coming up to her with advice.....I would suggest that she tell them "thanks so much for caring" and then ignore any advice they give.

I think that most advice coming from a fan is coming from a good place in their heart....I am quite sure they all love Kellie and want only what's best for her. She should be happy they care enough to take the time.

I am sure she could come up with a clever rejoinder for them, just to make their day.

Haven't we all at sometime in the past year thought....."Kellie, Kellie, Kellie, you really should ........."?

I don't really care for country music much so I find myself waiting with the sound down until I see KELLIE. I have heard and seen Kellie so much that when I do listen to another country star being interviewed I am a little SHOCKED at how dull they seam. It isn't that they are dull but compared to K.D.P. I find I am waiting for a good joke/laugh/look or story. I find Kellie constantly interesting and evolving and getting better all the time. Maybe there should been a thread for things She has said that were funny,shocking or interesting...........LOL PS: Remember the look on her face when she asked " what's a bunker ?" when in Iraq?

i love Carrie personality, i think she's a great role model...she's the opposite of Britney,Paris,Lindsay and others...
yes, sometimes i feel too that she lacks personality but i don't think it's a big deal, gotta love her.
