Pickler brings humor to big game

One of the Super Bowl media highlights was Kellie Pickler's segment on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

On the Super Bowl's media day, Kellie spent about an hour with each team. "They were big," she says. "I was like, 'Oh my gosh! No wonder they call you the Giants.' "

One of the funniest moments was when Kellie talked Patriot Kelley Washington and Giant Madison Hedgecock into trying on a pair of red high heels in honor of her recent hit. "They were size 14s; they weren't mine," she says. "The Tonight Show had a little goodie bag full of props, so I improvised.

"Most of it was just the first thing that popped into my head," she says. "I don't do very well with lines. I do better when I just say the first thing that pops out of my head."

Almost everyone appreciated her levity. "There was one announcer who was a prude," she says. "The Tonight Show is a fun show and we are just there to make everybody laugh and have a good time, so it's kind of awkward when people can't play along.

"The players have been sitting there all day long and they're being asked the same questions over and over and it becomes monotonous. I thought we needed to lighten it up and have a good time."

It appeared that the players appreciated being interviewed by a funny, beautiful blonde. "I didn't give out my number, but I did get a couple," she says.

That was a really neat newspaper article, and after reading the entire article, I bet Kellie was also thrilled, because a nice piece about Dolly Parton appeared first. She is always happy because her last name starts with P and that makes her cds next to Dolly in the sale bins at stores!! I was a young girl, living 60 miles from Dolly, when she was an up and rising star, and I remember her so well. I watched her on TV on the Cas Walker show out of Knoxville, TN. That was many years ago....but Kellie reminds me of her so much. She was always so candid, sweet, funny and talented...just like Kellie!!!!!

Kellie made some really astute observations there.

It's amazing to me that some of the media people think that being the 200th person to ask a player "What do you have to do to stop [insert team or big-name player here]?" is an IMPORTANT function. Sure, it's a job, you have bills to pay and you want to do good work. But come up with something original. And how many people are going to be reading or replaying the pre-game interviews over and over?

Anyway, Kellie did a great job and I'll be replaying HER interviews over and over and over.

How smart of the the Tonight Show folks to hire Kellie for media day....She is so refreshing....I NEVER watch the Tonight Show unless Kellie is going to be on....she is such a "hoot"....does anyone know if CMT or GAC picked up on that segment?

I would love to see the entire 2 hours of filming at the media day. Kellie is soooo funny.

It will be nice to Call the producer of the Tonight Show and thank them to have hired Kellie!
