Kellie's Gift: I Wonder and making the world a better place
Let's not just think about Kellie when talking about this song. Think about the millions of people who are going to hear this simple and beautiful but powerful song.
Somewhere out there are children/teenagers/adults who were abandoned and can relate to what Kellie is singing about. They will be helped by Kellie's experience.
Probably even more important are all the parents out there. Think about how you feel as a parent when you hear this song. Doesn't it make you want to love your child even more? Doesn't it make you more sensitive to what your child is feeling if you are apart? Maybe someone is thinking about taking off and leaving their child with a grandparent...maybe they will think twice.
Maybe you are estranged from your child. Maybe this song will nudge you to call and make amends and get re-connected.
And lastly, how about all the future parents out there who are listening to this song. Don't you think it will in some small fashion, maybe make some of them better parents?
It is hard for Kellie to sing this song. It does bring up old difficult memories. It is a sad song. Kellie is not asking you to feel sorry for her.
Kellie is telling her story, and in doing so, making the world a better place.
