On last season's "American Idol," Kellie Pickler used her naivete, homespun silliness and flowing blonde hair to charm her way deeper into the competition than her voice could ever carry her. Her rough upbringing — her mother abandoned her when she was 2 and her drug- and alcohol-plagued father spent nearly four years in jail — also helped her staying power. Even though she finished sixth, Pickler seemed much more suited to a TV sitcom (something that's in the works, by the way) rather than a flourishing music career. But as Randy, Paula and Simon remind us every week when they're bickering with one another, it's all about the song choice. And Pickler makes a bunch of good ones on her 11-song debut that should ingrain the Albemarle, N.C., native into the Nashville community. The 20-year-old Pickler has a light, high-pitched voice reminiscent of Deana Carter. It's best suited to uptempo, breezy songs such as "Red High Heels" and "Things That Never Cross A Man's Mind." There's a little Kelly Clarkson coming through in the rousing "Didn't Know How Much I Loved You." She even pulls off a ballad, "I Wonder," avoiding the temptation to over-sing it. The sameness of the songs gets a little tiresome by disc's end. Plus, "Small Town Girl" and "Girls Like Me" try too hard to reinforce Pickler's humble roots. Pickler is clearly no Carrie Underwood in terms of versatility or voice power, but she proves here that she's more than just a pretty face who gets laughs by mispronouncing words. In the end, she may prove to be the big winner from "Idol '06."

Well I think that guy was a jerk with some of the things he said about Kellie when he clearly dosn't know what he's talking about...but that last line I agree with so I'll take it... lol

I always felt that Kellie and Chris should have been the final 2, both albums are doing very well for not being the winner. Taylors album is not doing well, and I'm not happy with some of Kats preview songs I've heard.
Just MO of course.
