'I Want To Come Back To 'idol'

November 3, 2006 -- 'AMERICAN Idol" finalist Kellie Pickler, she of the thick Southern drawl, isn't sure if she'll make a return visit to the show next season.
"I would love to be asked to come back, but I don't think they've gotten into that part of the show yet," says Pickler, whose first CD, "Small Town Girl," was released on Halloween and is selling well.
"Right now they're still doing auditions and they haven't even filmed 'Hollywood Week' yet - what we liked to call 'Hell Week,' " Pickler says of "Idol," which returns in January.
Pickler will, however, be pulling double duty this Monday for ABC and for Country Music Television. Not only will she be a presenter on ABC's "40th Annual CMA Awards" (8-11 p.m./Ch. 7), but, over on the cable side, she'll host CMT's red-carpet awards coverage.
"I don't like having anything planned," she says of her red-carpet duties. "I like to wing it, to be natural. I tend to ask the first thing that pops into my head, which isn't very organized, but it just comes across better when I say what's on my mind."
("Idol" fans will remember Pickler's astonishment in describing eating "calamary" for the first time.)
However it goes on Monday, Pickler credits "Idol" with giving her the chops to deal with TV work - and the media.
" 'Idol' prepared us for the industry," she says. "It was musical boot camp and really helped our communication skills and performing in front of people."
I wouldn't be surprise if they got her to perfrom on the Top 24 shows or the Top 12 shos on the results shows on Weds like they did with Carrie and Bo.
