To be honest I watched star for the first time this week. I was not impressed. The only two I liked were the first guy (he was alright) and the heavy set gal. I thought her voice was good but the others were very amateurish. Just my opinion. The show no way near compares to Idol, and even Idol is getting "old" for the past couple of years. I am convinced Idol is nothing but a popularity contest. I am sure you guys have already heard that Blake Lewis was dropped by his label, which I called last year if you all remember. I told you he would be grabbed up and then fade out quickly. It seems that so many idols whether they win number one spot, or are runners up do not have longevity, but our Kellie is another story! May God keep her around for us to see and hear and enjoy for a very long time, and may God grant her happiness and success in this life and the next.

If Kellie did appear, they better get on it quick. The talent level this season is rather abysmal and viewers may turn it off pretty quick. The only 3 which really have any significant talent and are suited to win are Shawn Mayer, Melissa Lawson and maybe Gabe Garcia. All the other guys are absolutly horrible. The girls overall are better, the 5 girls making up the trio (Pearl Heart) and the duo (Laura and Sophie) are pretty decent, but they aren't ready for this yet.
I agree as I said in my post, that they are all awful except the heavy set gal and Gabe Garcia; I do not like the duo or trio very amateurish. I don't think it would do Kellie very much good to be on there , maybe only because it is on National TV.

I don't mean to be rude anything, but I don't know if Blake was dropped by his label. I mean I'm not sure if this is the same thing, but I talked to him on Sunday and he said that he decided to split from his label. His contract was up and they both decided not to re-new it, especially since Blake wasn't getting any promotion from them. Arista thought the album would sell without promoting it obviously. lol But Blake is still signed with 19 so he said he's working on some material and someone could pick him up.
As for the topic...I've seen a few minutes of Nashville Star and I liked the bigger lady, too, and everyone else was just nothing special.

I saw Kellie on 7/6/06, 9/2/07 and finally saw her in concert again and met her on 1/17/08!
I really want to see kellie perform DYKYB on nashville star it would really help the single since its on local tv now maybe she will be on there this season fingers crossed
I would also Love to see Kellie on Nashville Star. Realsiticaly since the management of her label is also involved with Idol this isn't likely to happen.

As far as Nashville Star, they picked a cast of 12 rather than picking the 12 best singers/duos/groups. Each singer/duo/group seems to fill some demographic niche that I guess they're trying to reach.
In the past, the final 12 has had more experienced contestants. This bunch overall is younger, less country and less experienced than the finalists before. NBC has also made the show more "Idol" like.
The result is that most of the long-time fans from the run on USA Network aren't very happy. (Having a "pop goes country" theme and Danity Kane as the guest just rubbed salt in the wounds of this group.) I don't think ratings have been very good, so they must not be picking up a lot of new fans.
But I don't really care. It's better than reruns. I like the way the voting is going so far.
NBC plans to send the winner to sing at the Olympic Games in China, so I tend to think they're going to start pushing the show much harder as it nears its conclusion.
So I think it has more potential to reach a bigger audience and actually produce someone who goes on to become a true star.
Last year's winner had a great voice but lacked star quality, and it looks like she won't even get to cut an original CD. It really takes away from the show if you know there's a chance you'll never see any of these people again.
Gabe Garcia seems to be the front-runner this year. He fits the mold of past contestants -- an experienced country singer who has honed his act in small fairs and honkytonks -- better than the rest of the group. His biggest drawback is that he's not that exciting to watch.
I still think some of the other contestants have potential. Most of them are just not as polished as you would expect at this level.
I like both the heavier lady and Tommy Stanley, since he reminds me of someone I know. Plus, he's got a pretty good voice, that note at the end of last week was pretty good.
That said, I don't think that Kellie or Carrie will ever end up on Nashville Star. Contrary to what someone earlier said, I thought that she still was "AI" property, or at least property of the Simons (Fuller and Cowell)? I remember seeing a show about Cowell and him saying that anyone who goes through Idol for their contract, as Kellie has, he gets royalties from. Obviously when you split, like Blake or Katharine and Taylor, THEN you're off the hook, but if she's still under Simon's 'umbrella' than I doubt she'd be on there. BEsides, as others have said, NS just isn't that good, it'd be kind of a waste, considering how negotiating would go on vs. the little returns, not to mention the hostility I'm sure that both Idols would face from the senior staff.
Let's just hope to see Kellie back on the Idol stage next spring!
Last year's winner won't even cut a CD? That's terrible!
I like Gabe Garcia, Melissa Lawson (I think her name is) the plus size gal, Ashlee Hewett, and Pearl Heart.
The two girls, Laura and Sophie need a lot of work. They're cute but tend to sing off key and have thin voices. They also need a lot more experience. They come off as kind of cute amateurs that would be a hit singing at their friend's birthday parties, etc.

The show is not that bad, but Kellie should stay away from this show because it's lame and their ratings has been dropping compared to previous seasons. I mean what's up with the pretty country boy that they tried very hard to add to the cast just to bring in women viewers, lol! It lost credibility for me there.
Anyhow, I think it's a conflict of interest and she can't come on even if it's a good idea to do so. It would be better for her to come and sing on "So You Think You Can Dance"! It has a much bigger audience, ratings, "new" exposure because it's not a singing show and that's what you want unlike Nashville Star.
One thing I would like to see Kellie be part of is endorsements. I haven't seen any endorsements yet from her (has anyone?). One of the reason Carrie and Taylor are successful because of their endorsements, from vitamin water to Nindendo DS commercials. Has anyone seen that Carrie's Nintendo commercial with her little, tiny dog, lol? That little horse commercial was pretty clever as well.

When Kenny Rogers was on A.I. he also did this show (two weeks apart from each other).
If it's good enough for Kenny....
I totally forgot to watch the last episode...can't believe what I read on the internet - Pearl Heart gone? wow. The cuteness factor for Laura and Sophie must be big.
