I can't believe this post, because I was having the EXACT same thoughts today....they went something like this: "I'm glad Kellie thanked Ai, because it is true and I am also glad Carrie Underwood shows her appreciation. These girls have class"....then I thought, BUT, AI did not give Kellie the talent to co-write her own music, they did not give her this tremendous personality, a born entertainer that we just like to "get close to", a loving, giving heart. I was reminded, for some reason, that she had already been recognized by ASCAP for her RHH's......she is definitely "on her way, finding her way, learning and growing and doing what she loves. Yes, AI certainly deserves recognition, but Kellie gets SO MUCH credit. Just look at McPhee and Hicks....need I say more?
Would love to see that but they give credit to Idol because AI really did launch her career and we should appreciate AI for giving her to us... sure they have mistreated her since she has been cut but still without AI she would still be a roller sktating waitress at sonic.
The issue isn't giving credit to AI and that's a good thing! It's just how it's stated, either negatively or positively. The more positive press and publicity the better. Maybe some newspapers are anti-Idol and anti-FOX.

That's the best possible way they could state it.
Very different from
"American Idol 6th place finisher"
"American Idol also-ran"
Those are some of the nicer, semi-positive references. Just yesterday I read a new CMT Awards article in the LA Times (CMT Awards: Broken-hearted good ole boys surrender to 'Idol') that called her an "American Idol reject" - much worse, totally clueless and uncalled for. Finishing 6th place on the best and most competitive season 5 was like winning or being the runner-up any other season. Even Simon picked Kellie for top 3 or to win. She couldn't help that the last genres and voting were not in her favor.
Attention all media! Kellie IS an American Idol winner and rising country music star!!!

I agree with you in parts but when I hear about Kellie placing 6th and being as huge as she is now and then I think about Carrie placing 1st and thinking of how huge she is now. I would say wow if this girl got 6th and still had a number 1 country album and 3 top 20 hits on the country charts then she has to be awesome. Now when you look at Carrie placing 1st you would expect her to be that good.

So true. AI didn't give her the gift they just gave her the opportunity. I will say this if Kellie just came out without her experience on AI then it would have taken her much longer to hone her abilities as a performer. I think AI (being watched and judged by 30 million + people really helped her get ready for what was to come) really helped her progress. She has come a long way from when she was on the show though because of her natural abilities and perserverance.
I know. I don't think Kellie is bothered by the references either. I don't think they'll ever go away completely.
But I think that Kellie has grown so much as a performer since her AI days, and was underrated while she was there. So, I'd like to see more references to what she's done since.
Yes she is 100x better than when she was on Idol... and she was already amazing when she was on the show lol.
HERE IS A REPORTER THAT LOVED OUR GIRL !KELLIE PICKLER followed Ingram and was greeted like a star already...and she took the stage like a star. Besides her great voice and looks, the just-turned 21 year-old has an amazing classic country diva presence...a regal quality of a Tammy Wynette or Barbara Mandrell, the playfulness and unguarded humor of Dolly and the sass of Tanya and Lynn. And, it's all in one modern package that had the very young-skewing Paisley audience members rushing the stage to get close and cheering her sweet, and stylishly dramatic, moves she displays like a musical ballerina throughout her set. Amazing to see.
Wow! What beautiful comments about Kellie! Since she is the total package, it's just a matter of time before she gets all the respect she so richly deserves.
