Should Kellie Make a Music Video for Santa Baby?

I think that a video for Santa baby would be awesome. I love anything that has Kellie in it though lol. Like Brad Paisley's Online vid is my fav by him just because it has kellie in it lol. I think that Santa baby would be a cute vid and I hope they do one for it.

I think a lot of good points have been made both ways, but I'm hesitant about it because 1) I want her to concentrate on putting out a new single with a video, and 2) I worry that "Santa Baby" could be done as a blonde sex kitten kind of video, and that to me wouldn't help her image. If it were done in a more modern way that helped her credibility it would be fine. I want to see her get away from that "dumb blonde" image, and that song reminds me of that kind of image.

However, keep in mind that making videos is not cheap. You have to hire a director(s), video crew, sound crew, actors/actresses, costume designer, set designer, etc. They cost $$$$!

Just look at "I Wonder" and "Red High Heels". They were done on the cheap and that's for the main single! It tells me that they're tight on funds. As such, to come up with two videos by the end of the year, they would have to release two mediocre videos to make economic sense.

I don't know where they're going to come up with the money if they add a bonus video as well as a high quality music video of TTN* Do you?

seriously though, yes it takes mu-la $$$ , but, the idea of it is cute.. Kellie would be totally adorable .... if there were someway to pull it off.

Brad's video for Online was pretty elaborate with several famous actors. Kellie's Santa Baby might just feature her and maybe someone playing Santa like in Suzanne Saxon's video. And they could probably find an existing country Christmas theme set to shoot it at like they did for RHH at a school and bar and I Wonder at the Ryman - they didn't go to the expense of building sets. Bucky's Different World was also shot at an existing set, and probably most music videos are because they are on a much smaller budget than Hollywood movies. Some indie bands on tight budgets even pay for music videos out of their own pockets, but since BMG is one of the largest record companies in the world they can do better. At the very least they could just shoot Kellie singing Santa Baby live or in a studio but hopefully they would at least provide a Christmas decorated set and Santa hat for her lol

lol, forget about Sony the parent company. Sony BMG is only relevant here. You think money grow on trees and a ton of money is a lot Sony BMG is not a monopoly and so they have competitions. They currently rank #2 behind Universal Music Group and competing with other record companies as well.

You have to look at their cash flow (how much money they bringing in vs money they dish out). Sony BMG has to be profitable period and strive to gain finanicial position. As such, they're always looking to make more money (not the other way around). That means their finanicial bean counters scrutinize every penny that flows in and out. A company of this size has to be very careful or risk of going down or lose position because of leaked and poorly manage funds.

I am not saying that they don't have money to fund the music video, but they can't just give money away without sound decision making and justifications.

I work for a multibillion company with billion dollar of cash and zero debt and believe me they scrutinize everything. Our division only gets a limited amount of funds to use for the fiscal year. We can't get more funds beyond what's been budgeted for the fiscal year unless there is very strong justification by upper management. This is because it throws off the budgeting allocations and they have shuffle things around, which is a big problem for a company of very large sizes.

If a division or department is not profitable or reach a certain financial goal, it risk the possibly of being sold or collapse or restructered (meaning lots of layoffs, lol).

^Yeah, I understand that money doesn't grow on trees. Even so, it takes some confidence, vision and a little bit of nerviness to promote someone. They have been ultraconservative on Kellie as far as I can see. I think they need to take a few risks!

Plus, I would LOVE to see a Santa Baby video with Kellie Pickler in it!

Santa Baby song is #11 on itunes Holiday music chart! It passed Madonna's version (#25) and it's easy to see why since Kellie's sounds much better and is the best version of Santa Baby ever recorded. It's time to start planning a video and play it on CMT 6 hours straight in November or December!

These are interesting and I see a Santa Baby video is missing. Is Sony BMG planning something like this for Hear Something Country Christmas? If they do it right, Kellie's Santa Baby video could easily be added to the list of greatest Christmas videos and shown year after year. She already got half of it (the singing) more than right.

If Kellie good be in a "good girl" version of SB, then yes. lol Although I'd rather see TTNCAMM get more promotion first as well as a video.
