Did anyone else think that the blonde girl from NC that auditioned last night was a trying a little too hard to be like kellie? Everyone has a sad story this year... but man this girl is trying to ride the emotional wave!
She made sure she said how small her hometown of NC was. She talked about her terrible parents and home life. She made sure we knew she lived with a grandparent. She seemed way to eager to tell the sob stories that appeared to naturally unfold for kellie last season... but this girl told them extremely unnaturally and all in one breath. And this girl doesnt have close to the talent that pickler does. Just wondered if I was alone.
i agree with you completely. My husband and son were watching with me and Adam said: another Kellie wannabe and my husband also agreed that Kellie can sing much better ( and she's also prettier).
i saw but she don't get me upset or anything...i was already expecting because AI love do these things and i just think she said too much for a first day, she was a little nervous when she sang imo and did just OK but i don't think she was bad or anything...but when i saw Jamie i thought she was trying be like Kellie a little but i believed in Kellie last year not very much in this girl and Simon wasn't very happy with her so i don't think she will go very far but she has a cool voice

It's American Idol, so you can count on two things:
1. She was prodded into talking about her dad and grandma by a producer with an agenda to create drama and higher ratings.
2. The video was edited by someone whose first priority is creating drama and higher ratings, rather than presenting an accurate picture of who this girl is.
Her telling of the story was really awkward and a bit uncomfortable to watch, but it was over in a few seconds. I gave her a pass on it, because I've been watching the show a long time now, and I thought she seemed really nervous about being in front of the judges.
I thought she had a decent voice, though. She's not among my main favorites from the show so far this year, but I liked her.
Yes it was a play on Kellie's life and I am sure the young lady has the problems that she related to us...But it was the delivery of those facts that made it into the "I can't believe she said that" category that made me notice...Question--"Tell us something about yourself"---
Answer--
"Well I live with my Grandmother and my Father is paralized"..That was just too direct and rehearsed...Her talent was not in Kellie's league by far..
I wish her the best but I don't think she has the talent...
That big boy with the "fro" sang pretty well and had a good sense of humor......

I said the SAME exact thing last night when I saw her!!! I mean her story is probably true, but she kept repeating it several times in like a matter of 2 minutes. I feel bad for her, regardless...
I left to go make an ice cream sundae when she came on. haha

I saw Kellie on 7/6/06, 9/2/07 and finally saw her in concert again and met her on 1/17/08!

But all that aside, I didn't think her singing was very good at all.
Another thing, if her dad shot his wife, why isn't he in jail? Not doubting, just asking.
