Hey! As some of you may know me, I'm Jen. I've decided to make a thread that shows you how to make differnet styles of blends. I have Adobe Photoshop 4.0. My tutorial can probably be translated into everyone's program. My first tutorial will be how to blend. Another one that will be added to this post is how to add gradients and sparkles to your blend.
Rules:
-Do not post these tutorials anywhere. I have worked hard on them to help others to achive different blending styles. If anyone sees these posted anywhere else, please tell me.
-You have to know most/all of the tools your programs has. I will post small thumbnails of the tool in the first couple of tutorials.
-Have fun, don't get frustrated if you don't get it the first time, just keep on trying.
- The first couple of blends we make are going to be easy for some people. After a couple of blends that are basic, I will move onto things that are kind of harder.
Before you can do this tutorial, you will need to know all the basics of your programs. For the first one you will need to know the eraser tool, and your layer box(usually located to the right of the screen. This is where you see each layer of your blend.) this is what my layer box looks like layers http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/1082/untitledqc0.jpg If you mess up anywhere in this tutoral, go to Edit-Undo.
1. Load all your blends into your program. It is a folder at the top of your photoshop.

Or you can go to File-Open
These are the pictures I will be using(I got pictures 2-3 on
www.k-pickler.com 1 and 4 off of here.)

4. Now take one of your pictures. Take the selector tool

. Stretch it across the picture. Now go to Edit- Copy Click onto the 500X160 document. Then go to Edit- Paste
5. Now click on this

and drag the pasted picture to the left of the document. Mine came out like this.

6. Now click on the second picture you opened. Take the selector tool again, and and highlight the picture. Go to Edit- Copy. Then click on the 500X160 document and paste it (Edit- Paste). Take the

tool and drag it to the right of the picture you just added. It should come out like this.

7. In your tool area (to the left) it has an eraser like this

Click on that. Select an eraser like this

that is 27 px. Do not take an eraser that looks like this

If you do, the picture will turn out jagged.
8. Now make sure in your layer pallett (to the right) you are selected onto the second picture you pasted. Erase the backround on the left of the picture. Mine came out like this.
http://img347.imageshack.us/img347/1094/5dv8.jpg
9. Take the selector again and select the third picture you added. Go to Edit- Copy. Click on the 500X160 document and go to Edit-Paste. Take this tool

10. Take the erasor again (size 27 px) Make sure it's selected in the layer pallet(left) Erase the left of the picture, like you did to the second one.
http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/4081/7oy6.jpg
11. Take the selector for the final time. Select the 4th and final picture. Go to Edit-Copy. Then click on the 500X160 document and go to Edit- Paste. Take the

13. You can take this tool

and arrange any of the pictures you will want.

You are finally done. If you didn't get any steps, please ask. I will be posting how to do effects after this tutorial. Sorry if this was no help, i'm not that good at explaining things. Post what you made when you are finished. I could help arrange things or give you some tips.
1. Open the same blend as you made in the first part (
http://img480.imageshack.us/img480/7977/9ji9.jpg )
2. Copy this brush (right click- Copy. Or you can save it and open it in your system):
3. Go to Edit- Define Brush. This will make you a brush. Now select the brush by clicking on this thumbnail

(I'm not sure how to do it in PSP, I know a lot of people here has it, so I won't explain it...)
4. Go to Layer- New-Layer-Okay. This will give you a new layer in your layer pallet. Make sure that it is selected.
5. Take the brush and brush it throught the blend. I got this.
http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/4944/01ch0.jpg
6. Now take the erasor:

make sure it is 27 px. Erase everything over his/hers body. Leave the backround with the sparkles. Mine now looks like this:
http://img481.imageshack.us/img481/4549/02to6.jpg
7. When you are done go to Layer-New-Layer-Okay.
8. click on this button:

I'm not sure where it is located on PSP. You might have to go on the paintbucket and right click on it, and it will be there. If you can't find it, you won't be able to do the steps below...
9. This should pop-up once you click on it

For me, the rainbow was under spectrum. I'm not sure how it is on PSP, but i'll explain it better if people can't find it.
10. Once you select the gradients drag it through your blend. you should get a line like this:
http://img330.imageshack.us/img330/5648/05ef6.jpg Once you let go, it should look like this:
http://img330.imageshack.us/img330/994/06vo3.jpg
11. Go to your layer Pallet (to the right) Make sure the rainbow texture is selected. Above your layers there should be something like this, go down and select screen.
12. When I set it to screen I got this:
http://img330.imageshack.us/img330/9360/09bs5.jpg
13. Next you will have to duplicate your layer. Right click on the screened rainbow granite and go down to duplicate:
14. Now set the new layer to soft light:
15. You will now have to change the opacity. Follow this:
16. After I changed the opacity, i got this:
http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/4115/012ix9.jpg
17. Now select your erasor tool. You will also have to change the opacity. This is how i do it in my program:

Set it to 30% opacity.
18: Now click on the two rainbow layers and erase anywhere near the face. After I erased I got this:
http://img481.imageshack.us/img481/9808/014ba8.jpg
19. You can now leave the blend the way it is, But i love to add font to mine. Click on this button:
20. Stretch it across your blend to make a box like this:
http://img330.imageshack.us/img330/6222/015yl4.jpg
21. Type in anything you want. I typed in Kellie Pickler.
http://img327.imageshack.us/img327/3594/017ie1.jpg
22. You can now add a bored here if you wish. Take your selector tool:

select the whole blend as if you were copying a picture.
23. Now go to Edit-Stroke Outline. This should pop up. Change your settings to mine:
24. This is my final product:
