Trace Adkins, Kellie Pickler play "Hudson Valley Country Music Fest"

The inaugural “Hudson Valley Country Music Fest” comes to Dutchess Stadium on Sept. 14 and boasts a great lineup of country acts including Trace Adkins and Kellie Pickler.

Adkins has had No. 1 singles with “(This Ain’t) No Thinkin’ Thing” and “Ladies Love Country Boys” and his new song is “You’re Gonna Miss This.” He was recently a finalist on NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice” where he accomplished his goal of raising money and awareness for the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN).

No stranger to the Hudson Valley, fifth season “American Idol” album Kellie Pickler joins Adkins on the bill. She opened for Brad Paisley last July at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and was quite impressive. The songs she’s best-known for are “Red High Heels” and “I Wonder.”

The idea for this concert has been in the works for a few years and finally came to fruition this year says Dutchess Stadium Assistant General Manager Corey Whitted. The staff loves country music and met a local promoter who was interested in doing a show with them and he went out and booked the talent.

“We’re extremely excited to have Trace and Kellie and I think there’s going to be a good draw and it’ll be a good demographic, a different demographic for us in the ballpark,” Whitted says. “I went up to Dierks Bentley at the civic center a few months ago and I think we have more country fans in this area than people think we do. It’s a fun crowd and I think we’ll sell out.”

Also performing is Andy Griggs, Cowboy Crush and Sarah Johns. The concert begins at 3 p.m. and the gates open at 2 p.m.

Dutchess Stadium is at 1500 Route 9D, Wappingers Falls. Tickets have been on sale for a week and are $56.60 general admission and $82.50 for VIP which guarantees prime seating and a front row view.
