KELLI PICKLER TO HEADLINE NATIONAL GRANDRALLY IN DC
Posted 05.05.2008
NASHVILLE, TN – Kellie Pickler will take part in the AARP GrandRally, specifically targeting Grandfamilies which are grandparents raising their grandchildren. The annual event is Wednesday, May 7, on the West Lawn of U.S. Capitol Building beginning at 1:00 pm. Kellie will perform “My Angel,” a song on her debut album, Small Town Girl. Kellie wrote the song about, and dedicated the album to, her grandmother.
Raised by her grandparents, this is an issue of importance to Kellie who said, "I'm proud to take part in AARP's GrandRally. Having been raised by my grandparents, I know the struggles they face raising their grandchildren." As her charity of choice, Kellie has donated nearly $50,000 to AARP's Grandparenting Foundation.
Some of the biggest challenges for grandparents are financial, legal and medical, just to name a few. And one of the biggest problems is that they do not know where to turn for assistance. At the GrandRally, grandparents and the children they are raising will discuss the challenges they face and the need for continued Congressional support.
The AARP Foundation Grandparenting Program is a terrific resource for grandparents who need help. They connect grandparents to resources in their community. To learn more visit
AARP Foundation or call 1-888-GRAND-18.
