OMG I LOVED this movie. It was so cute. My mom thought itv was slow moving but I just thought it was adorable. It aws about a father who's getting divorced telling the story of how he met her mom to his daugher and then the lessons he learns along the way. And I LOVE the ending. I would definitly recommend it. It was just a really good feel good movie. LOL

Daily life of a Soldier.

*This is not meant to insult or attack as most peace activist love our troops and only wished that they return home safely but end a war they believed, is un-just but it gives a different prespective. This is what our men and women experienced in the war.

However, if you are one of those who hate our troops, thinks they're babykillers, and murderers, I'm glad your reading this.

This has been going around the net for years.*

*You stay up for 16 hours.
The soldier stays up for days on end.

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.
The soldier goes days or weeks without running water.

You complain of a 'headache', and call in sick.
The soldier gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.
The soldier still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.
The soldier clutches the cross or religious charm hanging on their chain next to their dog tags.

You talk trash about your 'buddies' that aren't with you.
The soldier knows that he or she may not see some of their buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls or handsome guys.
The soldier patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You complain about how hot it is.
The soldier wears their heavy gear, not daring to take off their helmet to wipe their brow.

You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
The soldier doesn't get to eat today.

Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
The soldier wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure their weapons are clean.

You go to the mall and get your hair done.
The soldier doesn't have time to brush their teeth today.

You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
The soldier is told they will be held over an extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend or boyfriend and set a date for tonight.
The soldier waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse like you do everyday.
The soldier holds their letter close and smells their love's perfume or cologne.

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet. She keeps a picture of hers under her helmet.

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
*The soldier sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he or she is fighting.

You hear the jokes about the war, and laugh about them.
The soldier hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.

You see only what the media wants you to see.
*The soldier sees the broken bodies lying around them.

You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.
The soldier does exactly what he or she is told even if it puts their life in danger.

You stay at home and watch TV.
The soldier takes whatever time he or she is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.

You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.
The soldier tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long.*

*Commentary*
****Not all soldiers are for the Iraq war, but most believe in this mission.

Be that as it may, the kind of enemy that they're fighting is the same enemy that bombed us throught the 80s, 90s, and to 2001. Not a lot of whom we're fighting are home bred unless they're Baathist or Sadr/Iranian Militants.

*The media does not often tell the good that is happening in Iraq as they, without fail, report death of a soldier by an IED or a sniper killing a Marine adding to the numbers of death to 4000.

To be fair, according to one Journalist, after the liberation of Iraq, the media did report some hope but after, only death and destruction. Nevertheless, the belief that the Media is Biased is wide spread.

For example, the hospitals are rebuilt, schools rebuilt, stock market is running, Iraqi civilians are turning against the Insurgants, and the Surge is working as the the death rate decreased gradually starting in June 2007 opposed to 100s prior to the Surge (1) but you don't hear that in the media.

I've watched the news from CNN, NBC, ABC etc and they've always ended their report in a gloomy hopeless fashion. *

Pickler coming to Crawford Co. Fair

Pickler coming to Crawford Co. Fair

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Growing up in Albemarle, N.C., as Kellie Pickler rolled back and forth to customers at the Sonic Drive-In, her mind was on bigger things.

"Ever since I was little, I've dreamed of some day being part of country music," she said. "I've always wanted to go after what I want.

"I've never believed in settling. I think you should go after those dreams."

Not settling has worked very well for this small town girl. Pickler's down-home southern charm, along with her big voice and honest and open demeanor, has made her one of country music's rising stars.

She will appear at the Crawford County Fair at 9 p.m. July 14.

The straightforward Pickler captivated audiences for the first time on the fifth season of the television show "American Idol" in 2006. At just 19 years of age, she reached the final six before facing elimination.

But she was far from done.

Kellie has achieved a stardom far beyond what most people could comprehend, and, at just 22 years of age, Kellie said that she has changed along with her lifestyle.

"I'm still Kellie. But anyone, regardless of what they do, experience change. Everyone changes every day because you experience more of life every day. I've learned a lot," she said.

"In the two years since American Idol my life has changed dramatically. My job is certainly different. Everything has worked out for the best."

Her past is well-documented. Her mother left her when she was two years old and her father, Clyde "Bo" Pickler was a drinker and a drug user who has been in and out of prison.

Kellie went to live with her grandparents, Faye and Clyde Pickler Sr. Her grandparents not only raised her, they taught her to dream big.

"I've loved the town where I grew up," Kellie said. "I love the people there. But I can't imagine spending my whole life there anymore."

When the fifth season of "American Idol" held auditions in Greensboro, 45 minutes away. Pickler and her grandfather packed up and went.

She not only won the hearts of the judges, but she finished in the top six of the show, which opened up numerous opportunities.

"So many different things have happened," Kellie said. "I've had a chance to see the world and I owe all this to "American Idol."

"Everyone is so different, with so many different beliefs and outlooks on life. I think you just have to love everyone regardless."

After signing with the BNA Records in July, 2006, Pickler recorded tracks on her time away from the American Idol tour. The result was her first CD "Small Town Girl."

The album was a runaway success, with singles "Red High Heels," and "I Wonder," which is an ode to her mother, both reaching the Billboard charts.

Her current single from her second album, which has yet to be released, is "Things That Never Cross A Man's Mind."

Kellie has co-written most of her music with Chris Lindsay and Aimee Mayo, and he received a gold record for "Small Town Girl."

"Writing has been a part of me," Kellie said. "I think that's why fans connect with me. I write about me, my life and my experiences. It's a reflection of my life."

Kellie also went on a USO tour of Iraq in December, and she said that it was an experience she will never forget. The trip also had a profound impact on her views and she wants to go back.

"I'm a small-town girl and there everyone thinks one way and that's it," Kellie said. "I've learned to be more open-minded and see people for who they are.

"This is the way things have been there for thousands and thousands of years," she added about Iraq. "This is the way they've always lived. You have to be open about learning about their cultures and their beliefs."

Ayla Brown serenades Rye crowd on Fourth

'American Idol' finalist serenades Rye crowd on Fourth
By Deborah McDermott

RYE — At the Fourth of July festivities Friday night in town, at least one person made some fireworks of her own.

Ayla Brown, an "American Idol" finalist in 2006, gave her many fans in her summer home of Rye a sampling of why she made it to No. 13 in the country on the popular television show.

Singing not only one of the tunes from her album "Forward" in her clear, strong voice, Brown also unveiled her newest single, "Absolutely Everybody," which had young and old alike dancing.

A tall, slender, attractive young woman, she was clearly very comfortable on the small stage at Parsons Field. And she had a blast, too, calling up many small children onto the stage with her, getting them rocking, bringing a sea of small arms up high into overhead claps.

"Good job, guys," she said to them. "You did an amazing job dancing."

For Brown, it doesn't get any better than being in Rye on the Fourth.

"I've been coming to the fireworks every year since I was in first or second grade," she said. "I love it. I had offers to hang out with friends, and I said, 'No, no. I'm going to the fireworks. You can come with me if you want to.'"

That she was a participant and not only a spectator at the fireworks event should come as no surprise to anyone who has been following the career of this young woman from Wrentham, Mass.

Her post-Idol life has been one of dedication, drive and what has to be boundless amounts of energy as she juggles the rigors of NCAA Division 1 basketball at Boston College with her academics, a demanding schedule of singing performances, and a new passion — ballet.

Brown just finished a run as the narrator in Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the Reagle Players Theater in Waltham, Mass.

"When I was approached about doing a musical, I was skeptical because I'd never done one before," she said. "I am a perfectionist. I didn't want to do it if I didn't think I could do my best. But I ended up loving it. I am shocked."

So taken was she by her experience on stage that Brown is adding ballet to her academics this fall. A communications major, she still has plans to become a television journalist like her mother. But ... like many 19-year-old college students, she's now hedging her bets a little bit.

"I see so many more opportunities and things I love," she said. "I don't know if this is where my future will lead me, but I definitely want to learn more."

She was able to perform in the musical because rehearsals started after college ended but before the recent start of a mandatory summer school/scrimmage/workout schedule imposed by Boston College on its fall sports team members.

"I don't get much sleep, but I love to do it," she said.

Now she's back into basketball mode, and its basketball, as her "American Idol" fans will remember, that is of such importance to her. A recent Sports Illustrated Intern of the Week who garnered All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors as a freshman, Brown is passionate about the game.

During the season, she said, the pace can be grueling. Boston College is in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and most of the teams it plays are in the South.

"There's nothing like doing your homework on an airplane," she said. "You've just played a game and showered, you drive to the airport and get on a plane and don't get to campus until 1 a.m. And then they expect you to class at 9 o'clock the next morning."

But she's not complaining.

"I don't mind it, to tell you the truth. The types of people I get to play against every day are unbelievable. The best women who play basketball are all in this conference," she said.

She has to make sure she doesn't break NCAA rules of promoting herself or her CD while she's in college. But she still manages to sing for all the Boston major league teams — including arguably her favorite, the Celtics. She said every time she sings at one of their games, they win, so they consider her a lucky charm.

"I was going to sing at Game 7" of the NBA championships, but obviously didn't need to. "Shucks."

Being on "American Idol" was life changing, she said.

"My singing like this never would have happened without it," she said. "I never sang publicly anywhere before. Maybe the national anthem here and there, but I never thought I'd sing publicly. I just wanted to be a basketball player."

Meanwhile, Boston Herald fans can expect her to return to her "American Idol" column once the season starts. She enjoys the column because it "gives me an excuse to have some time alone, just me and the television."

"I know exactly what they're going through," she said. "Those of us who have been on the show call it the 'American Idol bubble,' and we're all inside it. We know them," she said, speaking of contestants from subsequent years. "Even if I've never met someone before, I'll give them a hug. I know what it's like."

Date: Jul 5, 2008 12:15 AM
Subject: INDEPENDENCE DAY!!! :)
Body: First of all.....HAPPY JULY 4TH!!! I am in Nashville right now....just finished watching the fireworks! They were so amazing and by far the best fireworks I have ever seen....just beautiful. I hope you all were able to celebrate Independence Day with wonderful company, friends/family. I can't even put into words how amazing it was to see all of the radiant fireworks light up the sky. I have seen fireworks so many times on July 4th....but none hit me like the ones I saw tonight. Most of you already know about the USO tour that I did this past Christmas in Iraq. It was the most incredible experience of my life and I will cherish it forever. I have a better understanding for what our military does and I have a far greater respect for the men and women who are serving our country. Tonight was my first Independence Day (July 4th) since my Iraq trip and seeing those fireworks made me relive my whole experience overseas. I got to thinking about all of the veterans all over the country that have made so many sacrifices and put their own lives on the line for our freedom and how I sometimes take that for granted. Having said that....I am making a promise to myself and to everyone else who reads this that will cherish my freedom and the people who have bought that for me. I am so blessed to be an American and I will never take that for granted. Thank you so much to all of the Veterans and the Men and Women who are serving our country. Because of you all, I am able to do what I love and be who I want to be.

GOD BLESS THE USA!!!! :)

My husband did most of this. It started off as a clip art graphic of Uncle Sam, but we had to modify it A LOT to get it to be Kellie Shaped!

Anyhow, how you enjoy this. Feel free to email it to your friends if you want to.

Country's Greatest Patriotic Songs

Country's Greatest Patriotic Songs: No. 10
by The Boot Staff

Country music and patriotism have always gone hand-in-hand. Whether in time of war or peace, American anthems have been fan-favorites for decades. The Boot celebrates Independence Day by counting down the top ten of all time.
10-
'Only in America,'
Brooks & Dunn (2001)

Proudest Lines: "Only in America/Where we dream in red, white and blue/Only in America/Where we dream as big as we want to"

This song was released just before the 9/11 terrorist attacks and became a patriotic pick-me-up afterward. It resurfaced in 2004 as President George W. Bush's re-election campaign song.

9-'Ragged Old Flag,'
Johnny Cash (1974)

Proudest Lines: "So we raise her up every morning, take her down every night/We don't let her touch the ground, and we fold her up right/On second thought, I do like to brag/'Cause I'm mighty proud of the ragged old flag"

This flag has several badges of honor: A hole was from Washington crossing the Delaware; one rip was from the Battle of New Orleans and another from Vietnam.

8-'Some Gave All,'
Billy Ray Cyrus (1992)

Proudest Lines: "All gave some and some gave all/And some stood through for the red, white and blue/And some had to fall/And if you ever think of me/Think of all your liberties/And recall, some gave all "

Cyrus recently sang this title track to his nine-times platinum debut album for troops on a battleship in Norfolk, Va., in a performance the singer calls one of the highlights of his career.

7-'Bumper of My S.U.V.,'
Chely Wright (2004)

Proudest Lines: "Yes, I do have questions/I get to ask them because I'm free/That's why I've got a sticker for the U.S. Marines/On the bumper of my S.U.V."

Wright was inspired to write this song after she said a woman flipped her off in traffic, cursing the singer for her U.S. Marines bumper sticker.

6-'America,'
Waylon Jennings (1985)

Proudest Lines: "It don't matter where I may roam/Tell you people that it's home sweet home/America, America "

In this song, written by Sammy Johns, the late country legend praises the unity of his fellow countrymen and asks them to respect the Native Americans who occupied the land first.

5-'Arlington,'
Trace Adkins (2005)

Proudest Lines: "I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property/I'm on sacred ground, and I'm in the best of company/I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done/I can rest in peace, I'm one of the chosen ones/I made it to Arlington."

Adkins sings this from the perspective of a fallen American soldier, now buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

4-'In America,'
Charlie Daniels (1980)

Proudest Lines: "We'll all stick together, and you can take that to the bank/That's the cowboys and the hippies and the Rebels and the Yanks"

Daniels wrote this song in reaction to the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. Ever the proud American, the famed fiddler also wrote a song called 'This Ain't No Rag, It's a Flag,' in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

3-'Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly,'
Aaron Tippin (2001)

Proudest Lines: "I pledge allegiance to this flag/And if that bothers you, well, that's too bad/But if you got pride and you're proud you do/Hey, we could use some more like me and you"

Tippin wrote this post-9/11 anthem a decade after writing what was the unofficial theme of the Persian Gulf War: 'You've Got to Stand for Something.'

2-'American Soldier,'
Toby Keith (2003)

Proudest Lines: "I will always do my duty, no matter what the price/I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice/Oh and I don't wanna die for you, but if dyin's asked of me/I'll bear that cross with honor, 'cause freedom don't come free"

In Keith's 'Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,' he tells terrorists, "We'll put a boot up your ***/It's the American way."

1-'God Bless the USA,'
Lee Greenwood (1983)

Proudest Lines: "I gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today/'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land/God bless the USA"

Though Greenwood wrote this song in 1983, it didn't become a big hit until Desert Storm in 1991, when radio stations embraced it to help boost patriotism. The song re-entered the country charts in 2001 after 9/11.

by The Boot Staff

Smits, Hicks go 'Fourth' on Independence

"The same producing organization handles this and the National Memorial Day Concert, and I've been a presenter on both,” Smits says. "It's always very moving, and in a wonderful way, it fortifies your feelings about what's going on. The Fourth of July concert is invigorating in so many ways, in terms of what it feels like to be an American.”

Originating as usual from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, executive producer Jerry Colbert's program will celebrate Independence Day largely in song. On the guest roster this time: the 2006 winner of "American Idol,” Taylor Hicks; Huey Lewis and the News; and rock icon Jerry Lee Lewis.

Also, opera star Harolyn Blackwell, Broadway talent Brian Stokes Mitchell and classical vocalist Hayley Westenra. Erich Kunzel returns to conduct the National Symphony Orchestra, ending the 90-minute show in the long-established way with Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture..”

Another star of this year's "A Capitol Fourth” is broadening his image: Taylor Hicks is making his Broadway debut, playing Teen Angel (and crooning "Beauty School Dropout”) in a revival of "Grease” through early September. "We‘re having a ball with it,” Hicks says. "It's a great part.”

In getting July 4 off for his commitment in the nation's capital, Hicks knows he'll be shifting into a different mode.

"It's probably the most patriotic thing I'll ever do in my whole life,” he says. "I haven't decided which tunes I'll do yet, probably a standard and then a couple of other things.”

Hicks also realizes he'll be in impressive musical company. "Jerry Lee Lewis is definitely one of those rock 'n' roll mentors you try to see. You always hear about them, but that's going to be pretty special. You want to take a piece of them everywhere you go; that's the key to becoming a great performer, taking a little bit of something and making it your own.”
