At the last minute, I asked my friend if he wanted to go with me to the concert, and he said yes! So my friend Ryan and I hopped in his Dad's car and drove downtown. I am not the biggest fan of huge crowds, so I didn't really want to walk around much. It kind of freaked me out to walk through those crowded tents.. haha. I got a philly cheese steak sub and my friend got a mini pizza for dinner in Subway. I was scared that we would have no chance of making it to the front of the stage because it
looked so crowded from the corner across where we were standing. So we went around the left side and were surprised to find a lot of empty space on the left side of the stage - so we went and stood there at about 7:30. We were right against the gate on the left side.
While I was standing there, I noticed Kellie's drummer, Gregg sitting right across from us through the gate.

I said "Hey Gregg", and he walked over to me. I talked to him for about 20 minutes about random stuff. I asked him about what it was like touring with Kellie, how he got the position, and what they would be performing that night. I also told him that I was an insane poster on KellieFans.com and I had an autograph to give to Kellie. He said that maybe later he could take it and give it to her. Throughout the next few hours, there were some guys and girls throwing and shooting shirts out into the crowd, and doing ridiculous games before Kellie came out. It was really tiring sitting there so long, but I knew it would be worth it in the end. I was in touch with Shannon (byrdhouseflorist) the whole time, who I saw before the show and after.
Finally when Kellie came out, the whole stage lit up. I am not sure about the order, but I know that she sang "Stand By Your Man", "Walkin' After Midnight",
"Best Days of Your Life", "One of the Guys", "Things That Never Cross A Man's Mind",
"Somebody To Love Me", "Don't You Know You're Beautiful",
"I Wonder", "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You",
"Rocks Instead of Rice", and an encore performance of "Red High Heels". My favorites are bolded - but they were all out of this world. I can tell that Kellie's voice has improved so much - she sounded like a pro. Every word full of southern charm and was beautiful to the very syllable. The entire audience was enthralled. During several of her songs, Kellie looked over and waved at me because I was waving frantically and mouthing the words to her songs. I really hope she noticed me! During "I Wonder", she started crying before she even sang. And then I screamed "I love you Kellie" followed by thunderous applause and she couldn't stop herself. She kept saying how "Never in a million years did I think this could happen, and I know I've said it before."
I don't think I'll ever forget this show. For her to come out to a free show and do a full set is one of the most sincere things I've ever seen an artist do. The audience was truly captivated with every word she spoke, I wish I could have had it on videotape so you guys could see - but it was just out of this world! If you haven't ever seen Kellie live, this is the time to do it. She is phenomenal! After the show, I met up with Shannon and Mike- none of us thought we had a chance to see her because they had already given away M&Gs. Then I talked with Mike for a while, but it was extremely late and we all had to go. I crashed as soon as I got home, and I was feeling a little under the weather for the past two days... perhaps because I stood up so long and screamed so much for Kellie. I am starting to feel better now though, and it was worth it a million times over.
