Kellie at Cowboy's Dance Hall, San Antonio, TX
Saturday night my husband and I went to Cowboy's Dance Hall in San Antonio, TX to see Kellie in a headline concert....and I must say, it was great!! My husband I got there about 8:30 p.m. and Kellie did not come on until 11 p.m., so we had LOTS of time to roam around and see the place. It was quite entertaining.....lots of country dancers, a mechanical bull, a big huge dance floor, lots of tight jeans, cowboy hats, rhinestone belts, and just a big time for everyone. I really enjoyed talking to different folks that were there and hearing their opinion about Kellie. One couple knew of Kellie, saw her on American Idol, and had heard she had a great record called "California!" hahaha Of course, it was "I Wonder", and I told them about her performance on the CMA's and how successful she had become and before our conversation ended, they were so excited to see her and I felt like she had some new fans before she even came out. The local radio stations in town were there with tables set up and giving away little gifts to everyone who would play games with them. The radio disc jockeys were also the announcers for the show. Their was a local band who fronted her, and they did a great job. The stage was a semi-circle and all around the stage was a wooden bar where people could lean on and watch her. As the time drew near for her to come on stage, the place filled up to the max!!!!!! It was a full house....and when she came on stage the music was blaring, lights flashing, and she sang Gotta Keep Moving....and I'm telling you, the cowboys and cowgirls were screaming their guts out...I even think Kellie was a little shocked...hahahaha In a real good way!!!! And it never stopped.....they hollered and whistled and screamed.....and she loved it...she was just great. She talked a lot. Talked about her CMA performance, said it was the highlight of her life. Thanked the people for supporting her and how much it meant to her. Talked about how she couldn't believe that just a short time ago she was a roller skating waitress at Sonic and now look at her life!!!! She talked and sang for 2 hours....and the show never slowed down for a minute. She is a true performer and worked that crowd like a true pro...She was sweet, talkative, emotional at times, loving.....and oh my, what a talent...she belted out those songs with the greatest of ease. One funny thing that happened.....one cowboy was leaned up on that wooden bar and watchin, he was with a couple of buddies, and Kellie was singing, and she looked over at him and blew him a kiss and I thought he was going to faint...hahahaha He looked at his buddies and said, Was that for me?????????????????? hahahahaha He never took his eyes off of her for the rest of the show. That is a moment that old boy will never forget. Kellie saw the mechanical bull across the dance floor and was fascinated with it. Said she might just ride it later...don't know if she did because by the time the concert was over it was after 1 a.m. and this old gal was totally wore out....I tried to get some pictures for everyone to see, but they are not the best. You can get an idea of the place and the crowd I hope. Also got a pic of the outside of the Dance Hall with her bus parked beside it. It was a great evening for me and my husband. We didn't get to meet her personally, but I feel like I have known her forever after the concert. She signed items for the crowd from the stage. I bought a cute Tshirt for my granddaughter and Kellie signed it for her. My granddaughter is 13 and she will dearly love it. Years ago I saw Dolly Parton in concert, and Kellie reminded me of Dolly's performace. Dolly was a talker, just like Kellie is. I truly believe that Kellie will be one of the future super stars in the country music industry.
