7/21/07 A Night In Charlotte,NC
First and foremost I want to say that i had the opportunity of a lifetime being in attendance at Brad Paisley's Bonfires & Amphlifiers tour.The day started at around 4 in the afternoon Shannon stopped by at the hotel my parents and I were staying at in Albemarle,I rode along with her and my parents followed us.We were having a great time just talking away and singing along to some country music playing on her radio.We arrived at the Verizon Amphitheater around 5,we found out that Kellie was doing a radio interview and that if we can get to her sooner would have been great.We barely caught her getting into a golf cart that drove off right after the interview,i had a stuffed purple giraffe to give her,as the cart drove by i caught Kellie off guard and gave her the giraffe.She loved it.My dad bought even better tickets,our seats were located on the far left of the stage about 3 sections back,it was so much closer than the tickets i had bought.Once we began to make our way through the amphitheater there was so much to do, people were getting their pictures taken with Brad Paisley's cut out,and there were prizes given out to those who wanted to embarress themselves,Shannon and I did just that,we got up and did a number of Kellie's "I Wonder", I was definately in the moment.It was so amazing.
The show finally kicked off at 7:30pm,first to perform was Miss Taylor Swift,the crowd gave her great reception,and I myself was greatly impressed by Miss Swift's country rock edge,she was so refreshing on stage.Only two of her songs were familiar to me,Tear Drops on My Guitar and Tim McGraw,Taylor rocked it in true country fashion.I'm definately turning into a fan.
At 8pm Jack Ingram came to the stage,I was less than impressed by his hard rock performances,and only two of his songs were familiar to me,Lips Of An Angel and Love You.He wasn't well recieved by the audience.
The moment was comming,at 9:43pm as dusk was approaching the crowd stood on their feet when Kellie was announced to take the stage.Kellie appeared as a natural pro,she was definately working the crowd with "Gotta Keep Moving",she was phenominal and looked terrific in tight fitted jeans and a silver sequenced top and of course,she was wearing her red high heels.Kellie gave a great speech" I feel absolutely blessed to have you, my fans supporting me throughout my journey,thank you so so much",and at that very moment i felt absolutely proud of Kellie and her accomplishments.Kellie's next song was "Things That Never Cross A Man's Mind",she was definately struttin' along the stage in typical Kellie fashion.She owned the stage.Before the next song Kellie talked about how much Dolly Parton has always been her idol and role model,she was going to sing a classic,which is my all time Dolly favorite "9 to 5". Kellie did Dolly proud. Kellie's next song is her current single "I Wonder",she mentioned that it's about the relationship that she has with her mother,there isn't one. Kellie sat on stage during that performance,the emotion just pouring out of her,she had everyone in tears including me,especially when this line is sung "Forgiveness is such a simple word,but it's so hard to do when you've been hurt". I know exactly that feeling. As Kellie's set was comming to an end she had one last song to sing,and it was indeed Red High Heels,during the chorus of the song Kellie would simply kick up her foot in her red high heels.It's just so Kellie.As Kellie waived to the audience she thanked us all for comming out to see her,the crowd went crazy for her. She was just so fantastic.
After Kellie's set there was bit of an intermission before the headliner of the evening came to the stage,Mr.Brad Paisley himself.At 9:30pm the lights went down and the crowd went in a complete uproar. Brad began the show with his current single "Online",although i didn't know many of the songs during his set,there were those that were recognizable such as "Wrapped Around", She's Everything To Me",Celebrity",Ticks,Whisky Lullaby",and Alcohol".There was even a nice tribute to the many passings from this past year and throughout the years;John Ritter,Don Knotts,June & Johnny Cash,Chris Ladeaux and others. As the evening began to die down a bit Brad pulled up a seat near the end of the stage,as he began to sing and from the corner of my eye Miss Pickler appeared on stage in overalls,pig tails,and buck teeth,she was carrying live chickens over to Brad's feet,the crowd went nuts,and i myself about fell over with laughter.Kellie pranked Brad quite well.As the show was comming to an end Shannon went to check on Kellie's autograph line,about 15 minutes later i get word that a line was already forming,so mom and I along with Mike (North_clt) went to meet up with Shannon in line.As we stood in line,we were getting mighty thirsty,Mike,god love him bought us some water,i wanted to pay him back,but he told me that it was on him.What a sweetheart you are Mike for doing that.During our wait i get a tap on the shoulder,it was Jen,jenipoo from Kfans;it was so wonderful to have finally met her.About 4 minutes into our talk I see my other girl Allie(pickpickler811).I was so happy to see her.It was a great get together.As Kellie's line began to move up more i was getting pretty excited.I get my camera ready for a nice photo op,and which i do have.We were all rushed through Kellie's line pretty much so i didn't really get to say much to her except that i was the one that gave her the purple giraffe,she remembered. I recieved two autographs from Miss Kellie,one from the print out Shannon gave me and the other from the insert of the album cover.It truly was a night i'll never forget.
