sales 1-9-08
Kellie sold 3,200 (cutoff for the top 200 was 4,100 this week), down from 6,000. But that not only places her above the 700,000 mark but officially passes Taylor.
She saw a big drop but atleast she is passed taylor
The tv apearance will boost sales

The big drop isn't surprising. The increases were almost all CMA + Today Show performances during Christmas shopping. The entire market is down 37.5% from last week. STG is almost back to the pre-CMAs level and shows the album still isn't getting consistent marketing - mostly no top 5 airplay and hanging in the 30s and above for months (artists with higher and consistent sales almost always have a top 5 single every month or so), plus too high prices, low or no store inventory, and no Walmart, Target, or Best Buy bonuses to encourage buying. Considering the very low marketing level, 3,200 is a good number. Taylor Hicks doesn't get any airplay or marketing so STG should have passed that album months ago and should be a lot closer to Taylor Swift.

I would guess at least another 100,000 unless they certify it early like Taylor Hicks, which I wouldn't like. I'd much rather see more promo and actual sales. At the current level of about 3,000 a week, that's 2 more years to 1,000,000 total sales (3,000 x 100 weeks = 300,000). If the label really wanted STG to sell platinum I think they would have shipped the remaining 300,000 by the time the 2007 Christmas shopping season started plus done all of the marketing needed to sell those at retail.

It's a relief that she passed 700k, because now she can be considered approaching Platinum.

I am so happy she passed 700K.
I wish the label were doing more to push her sales. Hope she gets a boost from the Kimmel appearance later this month.

Maybe we should make bumper stickers of your Pick Pickler '08 sig and send them to the folks at the label. Do we need to organize a campaign rally? Maybe something can be worked out with Clinton's or Edwards' rallies.

I would love to have a bumper sticker like that.
Would it do any good to email those to Wes?
I have one of the Sonic bumper stickers but I never put it on my car because I wanted to keep it forever.

I don't know. Wes is the publicist for all BNA artists so I think his main role is to issue their press releases etc. Other than that I guess he has nothing to do with album marketing, and I guess the marketers can only do what the folks above them say or allow. The only time I've ever seen the label take action on anything that needed to be done is when fans contacted Joe Galante after her myspace was ignored for 5 months. I think Robert has his snail mail address.

I went by Target the other day. Prior to Christmas there were oabout 8 STG CD's on their rack. A few days ago the same store was sold out of STG CD's as well as many others - the restock has not hit yet to the shelves - no wonder sales are down.....
