40,000? Way too optimistic. That might be where STG would be if the label provided great promo all year plus even more promo like Taylor Swift got during Christmas shopping season (#1 song on country radio, song released to pop and AC, new bonus song and video edition CD, no store inventory issues, music video for single, won Horizon, grammy nod, etc.). 2 weeks ago STG sold 8,000 and last week the entire market was up 42%, which would put STG around 11,000. STG was #169 and #153 sold 14,163, so at #169 she'll be under that amount, probably between 11,000 to 13,000 or so.

update - Blige's Latest LP Is No Match For Groban - News Story | Music, Celebrity, Artist News | MTV News says #163 sold about 14,200, so if STG is #169 it could be close to 14,000. I believe that would be about a 75% increase over the previous week's 8,000.

679,000 + 14,000 would be 693,000, so by now or next week STG might be over 700,000.

Taylor's label promotion and weekly sales run about 13 times Kellie's, so it was easy to certify TS platinum a few weeks before she hit 1,000,000 retail sales. If Sony BMG/BNA promotes Kellie's music and ships about 300,000 CDs then STG will be platinum. They missed the best shot at it all year by not doing anything during Oct./Nov.-Dec. If it wasn't for Kellie promoting herself by performing on TV a few times she wouldn't even have these modest sales increases.

BTW since Kellie has done most of the promotion herself all year, it seems like she deserves twice the usual % of profit from her CD sales. Maybe she should have lawyers/advisors work a 50%/50% deal like Elliott has.
