Next Release
I've read in some sites that due to low sales there may not be a next albumn. I hope this is not correct but wonder if anyone else has heard anything regarding a new albumn or for that matter the next single release.

I don't think they would make a decison on that already. I doubt the record company thinks Gold, or 500,000+ is bad. Established artists today sometimes don't even reach that and they aren't dropped.

I don't believe it. Sounds like some jerk trying to start an evil rumor.

^I have to agree with those two. Considering she is the best selling debut solo artist (or whatever it is haha) of 2006, Small Town Girl is considered to be a successful album. By the end of the summer, I'm sure she will be platinum. Don't worry at all about there not being a second album. For country music she is doing great!

Folks all of that means nothing. The only thing that means anything is sustainable sales. Awards do not sell records and yes, she has low sales. Some people need to face up to that reality.
Now, that could be for any number of reasons. Maybe the album just isn't what we believe it is. Maybe they don't feel they can adequately promote this song and are preparing to release another single, maybe the planets just haven't aligned yet.
The only thing that matters is if the powers that be feel the can recoup what it costs to make a second album. I'll be honest, at this point I'm not really feeling it but you never know what's going to take off an when so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I would be very surprised if Kellie doesn't get the opportunity to make a 2nd album. Most artists don't make that big breakthrough on their 1st album. Look at Rodney Atkins, who didn't make that big breakthrough untill his 3rd album. And it is harder for females in country music. STG went Gold in 3 months and RHH and IW have made the top 20. You need to look at things from the standpoint of the average new artists. And from that standpoint, Kellie is doing great.
Compare Kellie's start to Miranda Lambert's. Yes, Kellie had the advantage of AI, but Miranda did not exactly come in as an unknown due to Nashville Star. Kerosene took 9 months to go Gold and finally reached Platinum after more than 2 years. The song Kerosene is the only single from Miranda that has reached the top 20 peaking at #16. And Miranda is considered to be one of country music's bright new stars, even getting a ACM Top Female Vocalist nomination.
The issue is expectations. AI very often leads to unrealistic expectations of that immediate breakthrough. But all it really gives you is a better opportunity to make that breakthrough by opening doors that might not have been open otherwise. And rarely will that breakthrough be immediate. Look at Jennifer Hudson, who took over 2 years to make that breakthrough.
So, everyone needs to be patient. Kellie is off to a very good start.

Umm .. she's Gold.. how are her sales low? If she doesn't get a second album then Katharine McPhee, Bucky, Elliott, Taylor and pretty much nobody from S5 except Daughtry will get a second album. How do you figure? Anyway, shes selling consistently and that's whats most important.

I really couldn't put it better myself. Kellie's first 2 singles have gone Top 20 and STG went gold in a hurry. I doubt Kellie is going to sell 6 million albums like Carrie but I'm sure once Kellie is done touring(she has more dates after Brad!) she has a semi decent shot at going platinum. Remember this is Kellie's debut album...Im sure she will get another
album.

I think she'll have a second cd. I think she will put out another single soon and hopefully another after that. There are some good songs on the cd that haven't had a chance yet.
I think Kellie's far too talented not to have a long career. The sales haven't been phenomenal yet but that could change and very likely will at some point. Not all careers start off like a rocket. Carrie's career, for instance, has been very unusual. Very few have that kind of success in their first two years. It's unrealistic to expect Kellie to sell millions right away. She's doing good so far, but hasn't quite caught fire yet. She will, I believe.

I think Kellie will definitely make another album with someone. And I think her current record company/19 will probably make money or break even on STG. But I'm just afraid after recoupment, Kellie will not make anything. Would it be that bad if 19 dropped Kellie?

That's the thing though. When you sell, it proves something.. because just because you made the Top 5, Top 3 or even #1 on AI doesn't guarantee you're gonna sell anything. Look at Paris Bennett, she came in 5th place, but only sold around 6,000 fw i believe.. thats kind of sad. Obviously people liked Kellie a lot and were interested enough to buy her CD. The object now is to keep that interest alive.

Yeah. But they're definitely not low sales. She's shipped probably around 700k right now and sold more than everyone but Chris. Even though she hasn't passed Taylor yet, she will, and he was the WINNER.
