Taylor Swift.. Country or Pop?
Okay I've always thought that she wasn't country, but I was just listening with Blair Garner on After Midnight and she said that for her next album she wrote a song with Colbie Callait and she opens her shows with Eminem "Lose Yourself"... sorry but I just don't get how people say she's country. I'm not bashing her but she "wants to be known as a country music singer"... but I don't think she's country at all. If anything she's pop...

I have to agree, Clay. To me, the only thing that's Country about Taylor is her boots. She seems like a nice kid. If Kellie likes her, she must be ok. That's more than enough of an endorsement for me. But......Country?.......No.

i agree also. we saw her and kellie with brad paisley in hershey pennsylvania and she does not seem like a country singer at all; very pop kiddish kind of actions I mean the kids adore her and scream for her like they would for Hannah Montana or any other pop star but other than her guitar and boots you are right: not country at all not even her voice.

Probably more pop than country but country is not just a simple genre. It does often have touches of other music, country/rock, country/pop, country/folk, country/blues, etc.
A lot of tunes could go either country or pop depending on what kind of instruments are used, without the singer changing a thing about the way he or she sings.

Yeah and I don't have a problem with her either, I'm sure she's a great person. I just don't see the country aspect of her singing and don't think she should really be classified that way.

Yeah the kids love her, and her music is very infectious but not overly sentimental and her voice doesn't sound uniquely country.

Yeah that's another thing.. if she releases a pop version and gets played on Top 40 she must've not been exclusively country to start with. The "Lose Yourself" thing I heard on After Midnight but it's probably from old shows.

Yeah I agree with you but I don't hear country when I listen to her music I think of pop. Maybe it's in the lyrics? I do see some country lyrics but her voice is just not country at all.. the instrumentals the voice... not so much.

Yea she did release a pop version of "Teardrops" which to me, even though I do love Taylor, it just seems like she kinda sold out. It was a weird feeling when I heard it. I was actually kinda dissapointed in her.
Also she does sometimes open with "Lose Yourself" I've been to two concerts where she has done that.
She also sometimes sings "Irreplacable" by Beyonce and "Umbrella" by Rihanna
