The one thing most people are missing is just how big the fan base is for both Jordin and Blake...As a SparkPlug on the Idol board for Jordin I know the size of that base and Blake's is probably larger than Jordin...Blake is unique just as Taylor Hicks was..His vocals do not compare with Jordin and Melinda but the younger crowd especially the female crowd love Blake.
Jordin is by far the best vocalist and has one of the better voices that has been on Idol...

I didn't watch Tuesday night because I was watching the ACMs.
However, when I read that Simon was pushing for Melinda hard on the show, I had a feeling that might backfire. Not sure if that was the deciding factor, but it might have played a small part.
Taylor Hicks has not even been as successful as our Kellie. I think that Blake will appeal to his fans for awhile and then lose his popularity as Taylor Hicks did. I wish him the best just a prediction.
I am not at all surprised that Blake won over Melinda. Melinda is a great singer but Blake is unique and has a style people like.
Melinda was hurt by competing with too many other similar and talented women singers. This meant that her fan base was probably smaller than Blake's who has been the last guy standing since the top four.
Blake will be around for a long time. He's got a market out there that will buy his CDs.
Why Didn't Doolittle Make It?

While this week's results may have shocked "American Idol" observers, we had an inkling that Melinda Doolittle was in major trouble. Searches on the humble singer never took flight, and her amazing pipes just didn't bring in the Buzz.
After Tuesday's three song extravaganza, judge Simon Cowell declared that he wanted Melinda to make the finale. Although his bold opinion may have mobilized a few voters, the former backup singer still trailed Blake and Jordin in searches by a wide margin.
Over the last week, Blake Lewis pulled down five times as many searches as Doolittle. Fellow diva Jordin Sparks outranked Melinda in Buzz by a factor of four. In another important popularity indicator, Melinda only drew 20% of her searches from teens. Compare that to the 31% notched by Jordin or the amazing 55% brought in by Blake, and you'll see that Doolittle needed to do more to connect with that all-important voting bloc.
That said, we weren't going to bet against Melinda's amazing voice and predict an early ouster based solely on Buzz. But according to search interest, this result was a long time coming. And we should know better than to be shocked by the tendencies of a fickle voting public.

yes you are right: especially among real teeny boppers; many of blake's fans are under 13 years old; many are just teens as was evident when i won tickets for the taping of AI when it was the final six bon jovi week.

I am sure it isn't just the younger ones who like Blake. Being from the state of Washington where Blake is, there are different styles of music that are popular over on the coast. Grunge rock was invented over there...it's really strange sounding rock with a lot of weird sounding percussions that sound like someone beating on a garbage can lid.
Jazz and jazz fusion (jazz mixed with other kinds of music) is popular around the Seattle area too.

sounds about right...his uniqueness is his beatboxing....but how far can that go? Carrie Underwood can yodel, but image if she did that for every other song? It would've gotten old.

Blake and Taylor Hicks have NOTHING in commint and evan if beetween Blake and Mellinda who would have sold more CD's probably Blake !
When Melinda went into her high note she sounded like she was old, I didn't like her, and apperently American didn't either!!!!!
I am soo glad that shes not in the finale!!!!!

well for me, i love all of them, but i just think Blake didn't deserve it as much as Melinda. He does great with the beatboxing, but alot of people can beatbox, even chris richardson can, too. And melinda's vocal is way better than Blake's. However, now the final 2 is Jordin and Blake, i know lots of you predicted that the winner will be Jordin, but in this round, they will have to write a song right? And i think the 25-year-old-trained one might do better than the 17-year-old-untrained one. Beside, Blake has a lot of fans. And if Blake wins, it's certainly not a singing competition anymore.
This year is kind of ... weird lol and...hard to guess :-??

I thought they were singing the ones the fans wrote and we voted on? Even if they aren't, don't underestimate Jordin Sparks. Just because she's 17 dosn't mean she can't write a song. I can't imagine what type of Somg Blake would write. Jordin is WAY better then Blake and if he wins he'll burn out just like Taylor did. When it comes to vocal ability, he dosn't compare.

As a SparkPlug we were working to get more votes than Blake as
we all thought Melinda would be in the finale....To say we were shocked is an understatement....But we will work hard to make sure Melinda's "Baby Girl" wins A.I. six.....I knew my Kellie Friends would recognize Jordin's great voice....
Miss Jordin Sparks is one AMAZING young singer. She could easily be named the most improved because every week she delivers and every week she takes the judges critisism to heart. I am beyond shocked that Melinda is gone but I have only voted for Jordin since Haley left. I didn't think Melinda had anything to worry about. She and Jordin have been the top vote getters for a while now. With that being said I will do what I can to make sure "baby girl" wins this competition. She is just AMAZING!!
