Absolutely right: it is not a singing competition anymore. The last year that it was truly a singing competition was when Carrie Underwood won. Definitely last year was not as Taylor Hicks was not the best singer. I think AI will die down in viewership from now on.

Don't get me wrong...I think Melinda is extremely talented, but I don't think she made it to the finals because she is more of an old-fashioned singer. I mean, so is Jordin, but I think this season, they want the winner to be more contemporary, which is why I think Blake has a good shot at winning it. Taylor is definitely not contemporary and he's not been doing as well as some of the artists from last season, who are considered more contemporary. Just a thought...

I WAS SHOCKED. But as long as my Jordin is still in it I'm ok. Blake should have went IMO. Sorry I know there's alot of Blake fans on here but He's the only one I can't stand.lol.Oh well. Melinda will be like Chris IMO. Not that I'm much of a Melinda fan but she DOES have a great voice and like Randy said, if it was based on singing talent it would have been Melinda and Jordin in the finals.

She's definately an amazing singer and deserve to be the finals. Unfortunately, she made the mistake of reminding people that she look like SHREK! It was probably her downfall. She was on Leno the other day with Blake and Jordin and she gave all of these imagery of what people call her. Right then, I knew she sealed her own fate.

Really? I had no idea she said that. Bad idea. lol. Though I did think her image played a part in her downfall. Whether people believe it or not, people do pay attention, and as good as Melinda's voice is, I never thought she had the whole Package. Its funny though because for a while I was thinking the winner would be someone young. But my votes are going to Jordin now.... ALL of them. lol

Yep, she sure did! What was really sad was that I notice that know one really said "Awwwwww" when she said those things! I was expecting that, but no one really stepped up.
Yeah, I totally agree with regards to image. It's definately a factor whether we choose to admit or not. Either that or people didn't want a repeat of Fantasia. Having one is enough, lol
