At The Rate It's Headed, Will 'Idol' Ever Face Competition?

At the rate "American Idol" is going, in five years, every teenage girl in America who watches TV on Tuesday and Wednesday will be tuning in to the show.

In other words, half that demographic is choosing "Idol" now — out of an average 100 channels per home — and is largely contributing to the average 31.3 million viewers on Tuesday nights and 29.4 million on Wednesdays this season.

Those numbers are up nearly 20 percent from a year ago, making "Idol" one of the few shows in television history to increase its ratings after five seasons...........

the only way i see "idol" falling on it's face is if they prove the rumors of vote manipulation to be true.

^ That's the only way it falls. I do believe idol might be rigging it up but of course I don't think it's going to come out.

Yes.. tonight. CBS will come very close if not beat Idol for the 8pm time slot. They've got some huge names slated for the ACM's and both Carrie and Kelly Clarkson whom I'm betting are set to perform during the 8pm hour. Be very interesting to see how this plays out. I think I'd put my money on CBS beating them by more than just a little bit tonight.

I'm going to record ACM and watch the other live. I figure there will be video caps of anything I want to see again from Idol.

The big question for me is: Will Idol hold my attention enough to keep me from changing the channel and just watching ACMs?

ACM means Academy Of Country Music Awards. Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood will both be perfroming (Am I Right?)

but kelly clarkston doesnt sing country..
