Country singer Kellie Pickler performed a private concert at Etowah High School on Monday after the students won a radio contest sponsored by WKHX-FM (Kicks 101.5). Andy Sharp / AJC

The radio station challenged students across the metro area to text the name of their school, along with that of Pickler, to it during a 10-day period. Etowah flooded the station with 500,000 text messages. Andy Sharp / AJC

Many of the students had digital cameras to capture the diminutive star. Although the concert was originally designed to be held in a school auditorium, it was moved to the football stadium because of the size of Etowah's student body, which totals more than 2,300. Children from E.T. Booth Middle School, who helped the high school win the concert, also attended. Andy Sharp / AJC
