A lot has changed with the show since season 1 and it's way more popular which is alas hindered a lot of the women's chances.
Kristi is first in a lot of the polls which is a good sign since Laila and Sabrina never were. She seems to actually be extremely popular when you go around to the boards. They are also having her dance to music and having routines that are more appealing to the younger voters.

The key word you've mentioned there is growth. Kelly did grow a lot on the show, and thats why she won. The female performers more recently have all shown little growth, they all started out amazing and ended amazing. I think the reason males have won is because it easier to see their growth since they begin so rough around the edges.

I think Steve/Anna will go. I thought they were really underscored and deserved 21's on both dances but I guess that's just me. I <3 Kym (she won the aussie verison of the show) and I hope she stays around. She is fun, sexy, good dancer, nice, and a good choreographer without being self entitled and snotty (alas Cheryl & Julianne).

I don't think Edyta has a flat personality in any way. She's always laughing and joking around with her partners. I've met her and she was far from flat. I think her upbringing has taught her to be more quiet and reserved than some others. I can understand why you think she's flat, but I guess I'm just saying there are others who feel the complete opposite of you.
I can point you in the direction of numerous articles that have stated that the three biggest stars of the show are Edyta, Julianne, and Cheryl. And I think they are for the most part. They are certainly outshined by some celebs, but some of the older stars who haven't done anything in a while are outshined by the pros.
I adore Kym, she's a sweetheart and a very patient teacher. I'm not a big fan of Cheryl but I don't think she's arrogant at all. She's a really shy person which comes off as arrogance. Julianne is about as far from snotty and self-entitled as a girl can get. She's so down to Earth and sweet. She stood around and talked to me and my friends for 30 minutes after the show. Just because she wanted to and we talked about everything under the sun. It wasn't just us asking about her, she wanted to know about us.
The only pro I could ever see being described as snotty is Karina, but once again I think its just her upbringing and difference between her nationality and ours.
I've met several of the pros and they were incredible nice so it irks me when someone bashes them for no good reason.
