Changes continue for Kellie Pickler
Tuesday, March 4, 2008 A few years after being a waitress, Kellie Pickler was nominated for top new female artists in the Academy of Country Music awards Tuesday.
"This is really awesome. A few years ago when I was a roller skating waitress at Sonic I was never nominated as employee of the month but maybe that was because I spilled a lot of the food on the cars. Now I'm doing what I love and to get recognized for it is even more special."
Pickler's current top 20 single, "Things That Never Cross A Man's Mind," is the third hit single from her debut and gold certified "Small Town Girl." The album has yielded the hits "I Wonder," an autobiographical song about growing up without her mother, and her first single, "Red High Heels," both of which Pickler co-wrote.
Pickler spent the first part of 2008 on tour with Rascal Flatts, which ends for her this weekend after shows in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. She's also been writing and recording music for her sophomore disc.
