First off, I do like Taylor Hicks. But this really is'nt a surprise at all. After he won AI5, I never thought his act would translate to cd sales since he was more popular for his stage performance as a whole rather than for his singing - I think the 'salt and pepper' up top helped him too.
In some ways it's sort of like Richard Simmon's trying to sell a "Sweatin' to the Oldies" workout on CD rather than on DVD. It just does'nt work as well if you don't have the visual thing going on.
PS - Nope, I don't watch Richard Simmon's workouts. But his collection of "Sweatin' to the Oldies" titles came out today on DVD and I had ordered it for my business. Seemed like a good example to use ... sort of.
